Dawn knocked and pushed the door open, peering inside the crypt. “Spike? Are you home?”
Nobody answered, but she walked in nonetheless, sat cross-legged on a sarcophagus, pulled her diary out of her backpack, and started to write.
A few minutes later, Spike emerged from the lower level of the crypt and walked up to her. “What are you doing here, Bit?”
“Just hanging out. And writing in my diary,” she grinned. “Did I wake you up?”
Spike let out a heavy sigh. “Do the witches know you’re here?”
“Um, sure. Tara dropped me off.”
“You think I’m that stupid?”
Dawn shrugged. “You ask stupid questions, you get stupid answers.”
“Bloody hell,” he exclaimed. “You can’t come here without permission. You’ll get me in trouble!”
“Chill, okay?” she said, closing her diary. “Janice and I made a deal; I promised to cover for her when she’s out with this guy that her parents don’t like. They think we’re at the mall together, and so do Willow and Tara.”
“I never agreed to that. You’re making me an accomplice.”
Dawn grabbed her backpack, pulling out a brown bag. “I brought onion blossoms.”
“That’s bribing, missy.”
“So, do we have a deal?”
