Challenge: Angry: Silmarillion: Poetry: On Elements
Title: On Elements
Fandom: Silmarillion
Challenge: Angry
Other Prompt:
Rating: G
Length: 100
Content notes: A drabble poem
Author notes: Thanks go to Zana, Morgynleri & Runa for encouragement & sanity-checking.
Summary: The fire is not angry, though it burns
The fire is not angry, though it burns
The water does not weep, despite it rains
The air no fury holds, though wind-twist turns
The earth does not rejoice in flowery chains
For these are but the elements, the parts,
The raw material, building-blocks and tools
Of making and maintaining, craft and arts
The corner-stone as beautiful as jewels
Yet spirits may inhabit, choose to dwell
Within a foaming river or staid stone,
A fire-mount or singing in a shell
Bringing greater life than hath either known
Not un-aware nor un-subject to feelings, grief
Or joy. That resonance remains, un-brief
