The Sentinel TV: FanFic: It's Not My Fault: Oops!
FlashWorks
Title: Not My Fault
Fandom: The Sentinel
Rating: Teen
Length: 405
Content notes: Rated Teen for language.
Author notes: Silly little story.
Summary: A misunderstanding and outing one’s partner at the same time.
Jim called Blair to see if he needed anything for dinner on his way home from the court room.
“Sandburg…”
“Chief, you know it’s me, why do you answer with Sandburg?”
“You called me, what do you want?”
“Are you pissed, Blair?”
“I’m right in the middle of doing something. Dinner is boiling over, let me call you right back.”
Geeze, Chief. You could have said goodbye.
About four minutes later his phone rang and Jim picked his phone up saying, “For hanging up on me you’re not getting any sex for a week. What do you think of that?”
“It’s Simon, Jim. Is there something you want to tell me?”
“Oops!!! Sorry about that, Simon. He was calling me right back so I didn’t look at the readout on the phone. We wanted to tell you about it, but were waiting for a month or more.”
“In case it doesn’t stick?” Simon really wanted to know.
“No, we just wanted to be the two of us alone in this relationship for a little while longer.”
“Don’t worry about it, Jim. And don’t take it out on Blair.”
“I won’t. I promise. Thank you for understanding, Simon.”
“I called to tell you that you both have the day off tomorrow. We’re going to have two new guys for the evening shift and I figured after court today you could use an extra day off. We’re training them. Relax and enjoy your new relationship. See you in two days.”
“Thanks, Simon. Goodbye.”
Jim hit Blair on his speed dial and heard, “I tried calling you back, you didn’t answer.”
Jim explained what happened and heard nothing but laughter. “Keep it up, Chief and you’ll get no extra day off. Simon called to say we have tomorrow off, but if you’re going to laugh at me, I’ll just stay home alone.”
“I’m sorry, Jim. Now, hurry up and get here. Dinner is done and I for one can’t wait to see you.”
“I can’t wait to see you either.”
“Now, can I tell Megan?”
“I’m pulling up in the parking lot now. You can call her after dinner. I love you.”
“Man, I love you too. Hurry.”
