I don’t want to create the spark, that lights the torch, that gets Shannon sent to the wall for doing something “against the will of the people”. I wish I could fill her in on my conversations with Javier, but I can’t. She’s just changed too much. Not in a way of betraying anything (she wouldn’t, unlike her former CO, who left Hell with Duchess Harrington), but she’s not been her old self, since Adler.
I’ve been getting the feeling from her that if I told her I didn’t plan to be taken back to Haven in suitable condition for shooting on arrival, she’d try to join me. And, at this point, resistance is probably going to be futile. It’s going to be too late. She may very well be a decent shot (she sure is good at tactics), but that's not going to change a thing. Unless we could somehow get rid of StateSec, and when Eighth Fleet shows up, just surrender.
But, if I don’t fill her in, I almost certainly won’t learn if she’s plotting anything. That's another card I’ll have to risk. If I tell her, and she isn't doing anything, she'll want in. If I tell her, and she is plotting something, that could help.
