Stretch Challenge: Mass Effect: Andromeda: Fanfic: memento mori

Title: memento mori
Fandom: Mass Effect: Andromeda
Rating: General Audiences
Length: 154
Summary: The point of equipment is to malfunction as infrequently as possible.

Even speed is slow, at this distance. Terminal velocity is more of a plateau, when you can fall for long enough to appreciate it.

Sara has that distance. Is rather occupied by trying to avoid floating rocks, but has more than enough distance from the ground to observe how slowly said ground is approaching.

With her helmet secured, can hardly feel the wind. Experience it, certainly - a bit like decompress training, and a lot not like it at all - but no buffering at her face. She can see perfectly clearly.

Which is great. Just great. It really is a long way down.

Her jumpjet stutters and catches, and does nothing to raise her altitude. Maybe it does. It's hard to tell, with her only reference rapidly approaching - give or take ten meters per second, the shuttle being at least mid-stratosphere when it got cored - without useful features to judge against.
