Summary: Luke dreams about Leia

Luke woke from a dream that his sister was in trouble. He knew it was a dream because he didn’t have a sister. He still told his Aunt Beru all about it in the morning, as he helped her fold and pack spare clothes into neat bundles.

“She was trapped in a black room, and the room was in a black palace under the water. I think the whole planet might have been underwater!” He had learned about water planets like Mon Cala just recently, and while the idea that a planet might not be completely covered in sand had been exciting, the prospect of one covered entirely by water was almost beyond his comprehension. “Imagine how rich we’d be if we lived there!”

“I imagine that if we lived on a planet covered by water, sand might be expensive,” teased Aunt Beru.

Luke thought about that for a minute. “If I had a ship, I could fill it with sand and fly there. Then I’d trade all the sand for water and fly home with it, and we’d be richer than the Hutts!”

“Well, since we don’t have a ship, how about you help me make midmeal? Your uncle should be back from the south range soon, and he’s bound to be hungry.”

“Okay.” Luke hopped down from his stool and raced to the kitchen.

“She wasn’t afraid.”

“Who wasn’t afraid?” Beru asked, tucking the sheets up around Luke’s chin and stroking his hair. He’d been so serious all day, so unlike the carefree boy who turned every chore into a game.

“My sister. She wasn’t afraid because she knew he would rescue her.” His face screwed up in concentration, trying to recall the dream’s details. “Her…Ben? Is that a word for dad maybe?”

Beru stilled. Owen had said he’d seen Ben Kenobi in town a few days ago, warned him off again; there'd been trouble with Imperials. That didn’t mean the Ben in Luke’s dream was Kenobi, and the rest of the details didn’t make any sense.

“Maybe it’s a word for a guard,” Luke mused sleepily. “I wonder if I’ll see her tonight. I hope she gets rescued.”

“I hope she’s rescued, too.” Beru patted his head. She put it out of her mind and left Luke to his dreams.
