Selective use of mushrooms, on the other hand, for means of easing a way around the wordlock that has kept her in its grasp for the last week solid? Gabrielle is much more happy to avail of that.

Besides, it is not as if they bought the things off of some vagrant peddler. Gabrielle had gotten Xena to gather them. She knows what she's doing, more than almost anyone else in the entirety of the collected human domains of the known world.

With no urgent destination to reach, with no one in pursuit, the two of them, plus Argo, set up camp early in the day. They set up so early that the sun has yet to reach its zenith, in a beautiful meadow beyond the reach of the path's noise. Butterflies float through the air, dipping to taste the nectar of small pale flowers; the sun sends fragments of itself glinting off the high summer gloss of leaves. Taken by the sum its parts, encountered as a whole; it is the perfect environment for her battle.

Gabrielle lies back against sun warmed grass and rests her head on skin-warm lap, takes the hand proffered offerings, and lets the wind drift her thoughts along the path to enlightenment.
