Summary: The first time Zhao Yunlan portaled to Dixing, he saw his mother.
The first time Zhao Yunlan portaled to Dixing, he saw his mother. He came out of the portal confused and disoriented; would’ve fallen if not for Shen Wei.
Afterwards, if he wasn’t exactly prepared, he wasn’t surprised, either.
The first time he went to Dixing after, he saw Shen Wei: pale and bloody and dying for Zhao Yunlan.
Staggering out of the portal, Zhao Yunlan gathered Shen Wei into his arms. His first thought was Never again, but of course he would keep returning: the one thing he would never do again was let Shen Wei walk into danger alone.
