Torchwood: Fanfic: Becher's Blues

Title: Becher's Blues
Author: [livejournal.com profile] lt_indigo
Fandom: Torchwood
Rating: G
Length: 100 words
Warning: none
Summary: In which Ianto is disappointed.

Ianto sighed and shredded his slip into tiny little pieces.

“Ianto? What’s up?”

Lisa was understandably concerned, given that Ianto wasn’t exactly given to making a mess. Nor was he given to ignoring a cup of coffee that was right under his nose.

As the paper fluttered into the bin, she saw some of the colour that had designated Native Umpanship’s silks.

“I take it he didn’t win?” she surmised.

Ianto sighed again and swept up some errant pieces of paper. “He refused a fence.”

Lisa patted his arm and hid her winning slip. “Oh well, there’s always next year.”

Nice one! I hope Ianto hadn't put too much on the horse.

Lisa's right, there's always next year, and at least one of them picked the winner.

I missed the National this year, I can't remember it ever being the same day as the boat race before, and since the boat race meant so much to mum and we always watched it together, I had that on. Naturally, Cambridge lost =(

Thank you. I'm not doing badly. I miss her, but it's been better since her funeral, now the house just feels like she's still here. I talk to her all the time, but it's weird sorting through her things. So many memories.

Thank you, all hugs gratefully received *hugs back*

Nobody lives forever, but adjusting to the loss isn't easy. Still, I'm doing better than I thought I would. I guess I'd been preparing myself for the inevitable since mum's stroke. Life goes on.
