Hannibal: Fic: Rock
Title: Rock
Fandom: Hannibal (TV)
Rating: General
Characters: Will Graham/Hannibal Lecter
Length: 200 words
Content notes: Post-series.
Summary: Hannibal can be both a rock to lean on and a stone disrupting the calm.
Will lost his temper at the fifteenth splash.
"Hannibal!"
Hannibal straightened up where he was scrabbling about in the rocks nearby, another stone in his hand. No doubt it was destined to follow the others into the ocean.
"I'm trying to concentrate."
Hannibal's forehead creased as if Will was being deliberately difficult. "So am I."
And yes, he knew Hannibal didn't like the idea of him writing to Molly. He owed her that much, though, didn't he? He couldn't just drop his wedding ring in an envelope and mail it. And he couldn't carry it around in his pocket any longer. There was no comfort in its touch when his fingers bumped into it, just a reminder of failure and self-deception.
Hannibal crouched to place a pebble on his notepad. It was smooth, ocean-washed gold and grey-blue. "The others were not what I needed," he said, voice deceptively light.
Will closed his fingers around the pebble, still warm from Hannibal's skin. Somewhere inside, the tide of his mood turned, and he leaned into the strong body beside him.
"Okay," he said when Hannibal picked up the ring and raised an eyebrow at him.
Neither of them even heard the splash.
