Luzzu still watches over Besaid every night.
He knows that Sin is gone. He’s heard all of the stories, knows the sacrifices they made to win the battle. (He can see the tears in Yuna’s eyes, though she hides them well, and he understands.) He’s heard the objections too, mostly from Wakka, that he needs to move on. He’s only tiring himself out, clinging to the past.
It’s exactly the sort of thing he expected from Wakka, the man who had uprooted his entire life to go on a Pilgrimage after the death of his brother. He was the first to speak out against the old Yevonites, now that he’d seen the truth.
Luzzu knows that Wakka means well, but he doesn’t understand. Not everyone could abandon the past so quickly. Guarding Besaid saved his life after Gatta died, by giving him a sense of purpose, and he isn’t ready to stop.
