Buffy knew that she shouldn’t be anywhere near his crypt.
It was cold, dank, and reeked of regret. But she always seemed to end up there, eventually, yielding to a desperate need to feel something. Anything.
Spike didn’t speak when she shoved him against the stone wall, he never did. He just gave in, and so did she. Not to love or to anything gentle. Just raw need.
There was no preamble and no pretense in their act. She was only there to soothe her ache, fill the void that was eating her up inside.
He knew. He didn’t care.

Because none of this was ever truly about him.
It was about the weight of the world pressing down on her shoulders, and she’d chosen him to collapse into. He could take her pain, offer her temporary relief. An escape.
And when she crashed into him, all violence and desperation, he yielded. Her lips were poison that he was prepared to sip until the last drop.
Not because he was weak, but because he would always give her anything she’d ask of him, even if that could end up destroying him. Or destroying them both.
She knew. She didn’t care.
