Original: Fanfic: go on
Title: go on
Fandom: Original
Rating: G
Length: 100 words
Content notes: implied invasion/colonization in the past (science fiction)
Author notes: The title is from 10:10 o’clock by Lynn Moe Swe, translated by ko ko thett. I wanted to make this fit a fandom, but I got to the end and sat on it and I still haven't found one of mine for which this resonates.
Summary: In which two young people, not quite friends, on different sides of [something], talk anyway.
“Do you hate me?” {} asks.
“I don’t think enough about you to hate you,” [] says, kicking a rock along the ground with the toe of their shoe. It’s scuffed, dusty with the repeated contact.
“I want to—” {} starts, voice frustrated, but [] cuts them off.
“What, charity?” they scoff. “Don’t lie to yourself. Give our planet back. Then maybe we can talk.”
“I…that’s not something I have the power to do,” {} admits, voice small.
“Then shut up.”
Dust drifts, kicked up by their feet. {} inhales some sand and starts coughing. [] leans over, patting their back.
“Just—” [] grumbles. “Just be here.”
