Once again, he will fail. Only this time, it will be the last time he does.
Fantasio, desperate, will decide to go against Samhain on his own. The most powerful witch to strike Brussels since another, more typical incarnation of Walpurgisnacht struck during World War Two, and will he fight it alone. Alone, after Seccotine will die again, of course.
First he will make sure that Spirou is in a shelter as the wind picks up. He will tell Spip, who never left them, goodbye, and then hug his very best friend for the last time. Then he will stop time, leave the shelter and the police keeping head count, transform, and join the already transformed Seccotine outside where Samhain has materialized every single previous timeline.
As always he will gulp and gape when the gigantic witch of the undead appears out of nowhere in the sky. The suspended witch is in a black ballroom type gown, wears a red masquerade mask over her eyes (assuming they are indeed eyes), and is surrounded by a fire covering her bottom as if she is being burnt at the stake or part of a giant bonfire.
Samhain, as usual, will not attack on her own at first. Rather she will summon blue fiery wisps that emerge from the ground and zip to and fro. Fantasio did not recognize until three timelines ago that these were actually outlines of fairies, complete with wings. Small but large in number, the swarms will be difficult to evade but are easy to defeat with a homemade moltov or two; Fantasio really does fight fire with fire in this battle.
Then, as they get closer and sundown becomes more apparent the gusts will increase in number and speed and Samhain will unleash giant flames of fire that incinerate whatever touches it. The middle of a church will be destroyed and the top will collapse against and topple neighboring buildings. Fantasio will be in the path until Seccotine dashes towards him. With a loud smack of her fountain pen he will fly away to the closest thing to safety all the while the rubble stacks atop the magical girl.
As much as he wants to mourn his newfound friend Fantasio will have to continue, as always. He will avoid more fire by jumping away from blast but he will also know that he can only continue evading for so long.
Eventually he will spot a flash of red that does not belong to Samhain. Somehow Spirou slipped away unnoticed and will be standing next to Seccotine's grave. Kyubey will be atop it and Spirou will be facing the alien, not his friend. Fantasio will be distracted. Blue fiery fairies will notice and take advantage. While a red flash engulfs Spriou blue light will strike Fantasio. He will hit a concrete wall so hard that he feels pain for the first time since he contracted. He will notice that he's bleeding everywhere, and arm, chest, and leg bones are sticking out everywhere even if they're not through his uniform. It is only a miracle that his soul gem is not broken as well.
Fantasio will know from the red light that he failed in protecting Spirou again. Broken, bloodied, and defeated by the alien again he will decide to reverse time as soon as Spirou shoots what he will assume from previous timelines is the single bullet that will shatter Samhain to pieces. To his horror, however, his shield will more so resemble one from Salvador Dali paintings than the normal gold trimmed watch face.
When he tries to give it a test run, seeing if it could even pause time right as the single bullet is about to strike the witch, he will realize the shield is broken. Not only that, but his time is out as well. He will only hope that he can join Spirou in destroying the damned world before he clutches his chest and screams. Under his hand his soul gem will transform into a grief seed, and the wisps building what will eventually form into a headless specter wearing a tattered black tie tuxedo will begin appearing under the lifeless lich that was Fantasio.
