Summary: Just because Celegorm does not like doing diplomacy doesn't mean he isn't good at it.

Celegorm was profoundly uncomfortable in Mithrim, without Aredhel, without any of his brothers, without even Fingon as a friendly face, and much better than he was at diplomacy. But something new and ugly (no matter what it looked like, it would be twisted of spirit and ugly in deed) was coming down from Angband, and everyone needed to be warned, ready, the leaguer working together. His comfort did not matter, his ability to bring these people together did. His uncle was persuaded, but Fingolfin was not here. The Hithlum Council was. Start with toasts, then, a round of the horn.

Light glinted off the metal, the deceptively simple pattern chased into the fittings of the horn -- banded rim, weighted end-cap, filigreed center band, There were jewels set in it as well, misty and chatoyant, sparks of blue and green, white and gold flashing in their depths. The horn itself was neither carved nor painted, but the polished streaks and waves of color needed no further embellishment. A horn from the hand of a master of the Art. Celegorm watched as it went around the table, each person honoring a Name, taking a sip, passing it on. Discord modulating into harmony.
