Sometimes I want to run away
With you, always and only
With you.

Who am I kidding?
I always want to run away with you.
I always want it to just be
You and me forever.

This world has hurt us.
It's made us regret we were ever born.
It's encouraged us time and again
To try to quiet the screams, the cries, the pain
The only way we know how,
By forcing our final breath.

But that is not what I want,
Not since meeting you,
Not since falling in love with you
And discovering wonder of wonders,
You love me too.

But I do want to shut away the pain.
I want to shut away the pain,
The trauma, the drama, the heartache,
All the misery.

I want you to only know love and joy,
And I want to know only love and joy,
Just like I feel when you are have
Your arms around me, Mine are around you,
And the world is silent,
Kept away at bay.

I want the world for us,
But not the world as is presented.
I do want the pain, the sorrow, the wickedness.
I want freedom. I want joy.
I want you. I want our love.

But I want, too, to be able to give you
The stars, the Earth, and everything good in between.
I want to be able to wrap you in a bubble of protection,
And give you everything your heart has ever desired.

I want you to have the best of it all,
And I want your skills, your abilities, your possibilities
To know no end, no limits.
I'd wrap everything good in this world
And give it to all to you
A thousand times over.

Instead I see this world hurt you time and again.
I see it hurt me, too, but I don't matter,
Nowhere near as much as you.

You are my reason for being,
The reason this old lungs still catch air,
The only good purpose for this heart to beat.
You are my reason for being,
The very reason I was created.

I just wish I could give you
Everything you need,
Everything you want,
Everything you deserve.

Most of all, I wish I could keep us
Safe and joy-filled, knowing only
Happiness and love.
I wish I could save us both,
And never let anything bad,
Anything dark, anything lonely,
Anything tinging or worse yet,
Filled with sorrow touch either of us.

I want only good things for you.
I want only love and joy.
And I want to share in it all,
Right beside you, always.

But there is so much chaos in this world,
So many out to hurt us, to destroy
Anything and everything good.
There is trauma everywhere,
And vicious, cruel people everywhere.

We've been hurt time and again,
Yet all I want for us is to be
Together,
Surrounded by our love,
Joy, and peace.

I fear sometimes it can never happen
In this world, in this cruel, cruel life,
But then you hold me close.

I breathe in your scent,
Your presence, your aura,
You.

I feel only you,
And I am reminded...

Peace, thy name is love.
Joy, thy name is love.
Faith, thy name is love.

Yet also, temptation, thy name is love,
Because without you, my darling,
I would never want for better.
I would never think better was possible.
I would never think joy, peace, happiness,
Most of all especially love
Was possible.

Yet your arms, your presence,
Your love, your faith,

Make me think all things possible.

Just hold me, and
Let us stop for a while.
Let us pretend this world is not here.
Let us pretend it's just us,
As it should be,
As we both long for it to be.

Let us pretend it is just us
And our love reigns supreme
