The medicine is strong. As is the wine he had taken to dull the pain of his body before reaching a state where he could search out the dottore. Together, they smother the pulse of his bruises, the stinging where his skin is cut. Ezio is no longer a young man, to brave the streets of Roma in such condition.

There are none who look for his presence, the next passing hours. He can afford to wait a while. The world outside the makeshift shelter of ruined wall and tenacious greenery blurs at the edges, going soft with rain. His hood shades his face.

The world moves on, watercolour slow.
