It takes but a spark, a word, to cast one down

And render hopeless hopes but scarcely held

A single spark, said quietly not yelled

Can travel fast and drive men out of town

Just one spark, a lie delivered with a frown

And plans of others instantly are felled

Only one spark for opinion to be swelled

And wisdom and good sense to start to drown

 

It takes but a spark, a word, to raise one high

To bring to those down-hearted better cheer

To rally round all those who seek for peace

A single spark when shouted to the sky

Just one spark and dark clouds will start to clear

Only one spark and better times increase
