Ray was frantically looking on and around his desk. Wondering what was wrong Frannie came over. “Ray, did you lose something?” she asked.

Picking up another stack of folders to check under them Ray nodded as he continued to look, “Ya, my bracelet. I can’t find it. I’ve had it since I was thirteen Frannie, Stella gave it to me for my birthday.”

After hearing that Frannie joined in with the search, hoping that they would find it.

Detective Dewey was passing them and asked the same question Frannie had, “Did you lose something?”

Frannie answered for Ray as he was busy searching. “Ya, Ray lost his bracelet, and we can’t find it.”

Dewey moved closer as he replied. “Have you tried the ‘Lost and Found’? It could be in there.”

Both Ray’s and Frannie’s heads came up and they spoke in unison. “Lost and found? We have one of those?”

Nodding, Dewey replied, “Ya, it’s down in the basement next to the morgue. You know, the storage room.”

Dewey then led the pair down there and showed them the box. It was like a treasure chest. Ray prayed his beloved bracelet would be found inside the big box.

Frannie pulled out a feather boa and laughed, “I wonder who lost this and why they had it at work?”

Shaking his head and laughing, Ray replied, “God knows. Hey look, one shoe. Who would lose one shoe, beside Cinderella?”

Dewey looked at the shoe. “Hey, that’s my shoe, I was wondering where that went,” he replied.

Frannie gave him a funny look. “You’re telling me that you went home with one shoe one day?”

Shrugging his shoulders Dewey replied, “I didn’t notice until I got home.”

Ray chuckled at hearing this. “How on earth did you not notice that a shoe was missing from your foot?”

Laughing now, Dewey replied, “I was really tired. I’d just finished a double shift.”

Going back to the box they pulled out more objects like underwear and a punctured blow-up doll. They did not want to think about those, all they wanted was to find the bracelet.

Finally something sliver and shiny caught Ray’s eye and there it was, his beloved bracelet. Taking it out Ray slipped it around his wrist right away.

Frannie patted his shoulder, “Thank god you found it bro. I’m so happy for you.”

Looking up at his two friends, Ray smiled and said, “Thanks guys for your help. Who knew a lost and found box could be so much fun?”
