Other prompt: SWG In Rare Form
Rating: G
Length: 90
Content notes: N/A
Author notes: Thanks go to Zana, Morgynleri & Runa for encouragement & sanity-checking.
Summary: Criss-cross make the toss
Criss-cross make the toss
Of bones or coin or dice
Ask the price to cross the Ice
In blood and lives and loss
Hey ho make the throw
With dice or bones or coin
The Noldor join, and so eloign
To fare against the Foe
Mist mast, make the cast
Of coin and dice and bones
The land of stones, The mast that groans
And Westward go at last
Mist mast, hold thou fast
Hey ho, face the foe
Criss-cross take the loss
With fire first and last
Note: Eloign — Verb, archaic : to take (oneself) far away. Middle English eloynen, from Anglo-French esloigner, eloigner, from es- ex- (from Latin ex-) + luin, loing (adverb) far, from Latin longe, from longus long. Definition found here
