Dark Matter: Fanfic: What's in a Name Anyway?
Title: What's in a Name Anyway?
Fandom: Dark Matter
Author:
sholio
Rating: PG
Pairing: Sarah/Three
Length: Double Drabble (200 wds)
Content/author notes: n/a
Summary: It takes Sarah awhile to remember to call Marcus "Three."
It takes Sarah awhile to remember to call Marcus "Three." It feels so odd, putting a different name to the same face -- and anyway, to her, it doesn't matter. She'll respect his choice, of course. But to her, Three is Marcus, in every sense that matters, even if he doesn't think of himself that way.
It's not until becoming part of the Raza's crew, if only in a strange and minor way, that she begins to understand. Watching them fight for each other, risk everything to save each other, even joining in to the best of her ability --
Marcus told her that he was on her world because his friends abandoned him. Left him for dead.
These people would never do that.
And maybe it's not just his friends who have changed. Maybe Three is a person worth saving, in ways that Marcus wasn't.
She still doesn't think he's changed as much as he thinks he has. Three might not remember what Marcus did for her, but Sarah will never forget it. She always knew he was a good man.
But she thinks she might be learning to let Marcus go, and fall in love with Three all over again.
